The story behind the image
Currently I am doing a bit of pre-spring cleaning and put the stuff that has been piling up over the years up for sale at a popular classifieds site in Germany.
The fun part for me is the shooting of the products. While I am not a professional product photographer (who I admire a lot, by the way) I like finding the angles and tweaks to make the product look good.
This image of a vintage sports watch by Casio was highly successful. Within an hour, two inquiries had come in, within a day a couple more. Which was unusual. I still feel there is nothing special about this watch – it is a basic vintage digital watch that supports all the basic funtions you’d expect, time & date, stopwatch, alarm function, background illumination. Heck, it is even on sale as new in online retail. This watch was about 8-9 years old, I had been wearing and using it a few times, it has scratches. Frankly, I have no idea. But it sold quickly.
Maybe, just maybe, it’s the photo that excited the folks? Then again, there is nothing special about the photo. It’s a smartphone image, quickly shot as one of many other products. I don’t know. Really.
Whatever. Please stop the inquiries now. This watch has been sold. 😉
