The story behind the image
We had arrived in Ucluelet on Vancouver Island earlier that day and we couldn’t wait to explore the area. It was just a short (dare I say it) drive from the B&B to Amphitrite Lighthouse and the Wild Pacific Trail. The sky was clear, it was warm, and we were overwhelmed by the views and the approaching Blue Hour. We sat on the rocks for a long time after sunset and simply enjoyed the mood.
The shot deliberately shows a lot of sky and reduces the coastline to just an ornament at the bottom of the frame. That’s because I wanted to show the greatness of the sky in comparison to the natural objects on Earth. (And yes, it is a nice copyspace as well.)
Don’t get me wrong. This shall not reduce the greatness of the nature around us – this was great by any means – but really emphasize the even greater universe.
A wonderful memory.
