The story behind the image
The Costa Verde, that is literally the Green Coast of Sadinia in Italy, for most parts is an widely untouched eco-spot. However, there was a time when the area was also active in mining. When the mines were closed, the surrounding villages and towns were hit severly.
The remains of the villages and mines are still present as ruins today and can be visited. One morning we made our way to the Mines of Montevecchio. One of its biggest remains is the Pozzo Sartori that provided access the mines.
I took this image because of the ubiquity of rust on the tower, and the generally bad condition of the building. And the contrast to the blue sky is striking.
