The story behind the image
More than two decades ago I captured this photo in the surroundings of Schloss Linderhof (near Oberammergau) in Bavaria. It had been snowing for a couple of days, and when the sun came out we drove up to Schloss Linderhof to enjoy the views. However, it was very, very cold there. I remember -18 °C when stepping out of the car.
I like this shot because of its sharpness and its reduced color set – mostly blue and white – which makes me almost feel the crispness of the air of that day. Interestingly, this image is from my very first digital camera, a Kodak DC 4800, and required almost no edits at all. Sure, the image is tiny (in terms of pixels) but it delivered a decent quality, and I could see the results right away. Back in 2001 this was absolutely stellar. A true point-and-shoot camera that actually could deliver decent shots.
Lovely.
