The story behind the image
Rome is full of beautiful locations – whether they are tourist hotspots or off the beaten path. This photo of the Ponte Sant’Angelo is one of the historic bridges in the city. Lined by statues and closed to traffic it is a joy to walk across it, watch the Tevere river or just the people that pass.
The Castel Sant’ Angelo, one of the key attractions of the city, is just a few steps away, buzzing with tourists. A street merchant offers his bags, always prepared to quickly collects them and run away if the police shows up.
Is this one of the typical photos of Rome? Maybe. Maybe not. Most tourists will head to the Castel and to the Vaticano. They will simply rush by and say (with a Homer Simpson voice): “Boooring.”
I like this photo.
