The story behind the image
Rainy days in Ireland are not rare. Fortunately, the rain does not last for long most of the times.
However, when we visited Ireland for three weeks in 1999, our start towards the countryside was accompanied by – rain! Oh no! We had mapped out our route from Dublin down south along the east coast, and we stopped at the historic graveyard of Glendalough in County Wicklow where I captured this image of St. Kevin’s Church, a nave-and-chancel church that dates back to the 12th century.
Of course, it does not have a fancy sunset, sunrise, or anything else related to sunlight, but I still think it reflected the mood perfectly. We were standing in the rain in front of a historic chappel that was more than eight centuries old. It had seen everything.
It would not mind a bit of rain, and we didn’t either.
