The story behind the image
On Christmas 1946, the kids had received their white fur coats, and a few days later they were already needed. The winter 1946/47 was another cold winter, and the coats effectively protected against the low temperatures. Of course, today it is not appropriate to wear fur coats – but the time after WW2 was different. It’s interesting to see that my grandmother Edith (on the left) and the nanny, Miss Wendt, wear tights despite the deep snow and low temperatures.
