The story behind the image
Sunsets! Some say they’re kitsch. Some say they’re boring. To this day, I think they are exciting (as are sunrises, of course!) They mark the handover of the day to the night, from brightness to darkness. But before the daylight is history, it becomes truly stunning for a last few moments. A sea of yellow and dark orange. Just as if the day waves good-bye.
Just like this shot showing the TV Tower at the Olympic Park in Munich, Germany. The sun was about to set. Well, at my location it was already invisible, as the Olympic Stadium and the TV Tower were blocking a direct line of sight. But the top of the TV Tower was still subtly illuminated.
I love the reduction of the color space to just shades of yellow and blue, and the harsh contrast between the buildings and trees.
Awesome.
