The story behind the photo

This is one of the early color photos in our family archive. Presumably shot by my grandfather, it shows my grandmother, Edith Schweim née Gehring, as she sits in front of their holiday appartment in St.-Peter-Ording in Germany.

The print is dated 1956, and it is in a poor condition today. See the comparison of the color calibrated, unedited scan below: the colors have faded into yellow, and details vanish in this sea of yellow. My edit got rid of the red and yellow bias and I like the result. I guess my edited version is what Edith and Otto got back from the lab 69 years ago when the print was still fresh.
