The story behind the image
A truly essential stop on our way from Victoria heading north was Chemainus, situated about 80 km north of Victoria. It’s a small community (about 4,000 pop.) that has successfully managed to become a tourist magnet over the past couple of decades. The visitors are coming because the town has become one of the largest permanent art exhibitions in the country.
Most walls have been painted or decorated with beautiful artworks that show scenes of Vancouver Island’s past. So, by simply taking a refreshing short walk you get to see some stunning artworks and learn about history.
This image is a really impressive mural of First Nation’s Chiefs at Mill Street. When a car passed right in front of the mural, I had my picture.
