The story behind the image
Lake Ammersee in Bavaria is always worth a visit, even if just for a day-trip. In 2022, we spent a beautiful afternoon at the lake, which is one of the beautiful lakes outside of Munich. It is not as busy as Starnberger See (which is closer to Munich and a popular spot for the rich and famous) but as attractive.
The sun was shining brightly and made us forget that officially it was still winter. Hence, the trees still did not carry any leafs.
I brought my tiny EOS M6 Mark II with the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM because the kit lens (EF-M 18-55mm) produces just okay-ish results. With the more expensive L-range and converter it’s way way better and can make images shine. It’s a bit funny to look at, though, because the camera is so much smaller than the lens.
I did not get disappointed by the performance of the camera and lens combo. The trees at the shore of the lake were producing a complex, high-contrast pattern against the deep blue sky, and – shot at f/22 – created a wonderful star-shaped highlight within this pattern.
