The story behind the image

Here’s a beautiful shot from Alsace in France: The historic Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg. It sits on a mountain that overlooks the Rhine valley, a very attractive position as you could see enemies approaching the castle long in advance. And when the enemies arrived at your doorstep they would be quite exhausted. Just like we were when we walked from the parking lot to the main entrance of the caste.

The castle has be restored at the beginning of the 20th century and sees about 500,000 visitors every year, making it the most popular castle in the region. And yes, we recommend a visit, too, as you’ll get stunning views and interesting insights.

I had brought just my tiny Kodak DC 4800 Zoom Digital, so the high resolution image size is not really “high” by todays standards. But the image quality is pretty good as it was still early days for digital photography.
