The story behind the image
I came across this image in the archive and realized that I haven’t posted an image of Bellaria Igea Marina in a while, a small busy town at the Mediterranean Coast near Rimini. This one is fabulous as it combined the beautiful sunrise colors with the excellent panorama function of my smartphone.
After my morning run I cooled down at Bagno 46 which is better known as Piciacia. I was (almost) alone at the beach, so I captured this awesome image. Admittedly, it is a bit wide but that’s the point of a panorama, right?
Anyway, at the time of writing, winter is around the corner in Munich, Germany, and I thought it’s a splendid idea to remind myself (and you) of the joys of summer.
Keeping fingers crossed that Hotel Torre, our favorite hotel in town, will open again in 2026. Yes, it is not in the first row and does not have a swimming pool – but it offers true Italian hospitality from the first minute of your stay, thanks to the Pantani family that has been running the hotel for more than a decade by now. Whatever wish you might have, the entire team will aim for making it come true. The meals prepared by Graziella and her chefs are fresh and tasty, and you won’t leave hungry.
Even better: most of their packages include the umbrellas and beach chairs at the Spiaggia 46 (aka Piciacia) with its Coconut Bar. I shot this panorama image from the rooftop of the bar.
