The story behind the image
Our 2010 trip to the island of Sardinia, Italy, was a photographic feast.
When we stayed for a couple of nights near Oristano at the west coast, we also visited the town center and its Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta that dates back to 1131 – almost 900 years of history. Inside, it was an amazing, almost spiritual experience, to see the quiet beauty of the cool interior. Outside, the temperatures were pretty high, even in the morning.
My photo shows the lovely statue that has been embedded into the exterior walls of the cathedral, right next to the small main entrance. By using the tele lens I could integrate the street light into the composition, which adds a nice contrast.
Nice.
