The story behind the image
Sardinia. 2010. As we came from the small Strada Provinciale 10 and approached a T-crossing where the provincial road met the bigger Strada Statale 198. It was really hot, and we were greeted by these road signs. Apparently some folks must have been very bored and they had been shooting at the signs! I found the hits of the bullets a good match for the walls of the ruins in the background. A bit bizarre maybe, but interesting.
The signs have been replaced since 2010, and the brown ones (pointing to the nearby attractions of the Tour dei Nuraghi) have been removed completely. The building was still a ruin in July 2024.
