The story behind the image
When we stayed in Leipzig in Germany for two nights, and we used the parking garage of the central station to park the car. It was just a short walk from our hotel and appeared to be quite busy and safe.
The exit was directly at the platforms, and – even better! – right next to a couple of museum trains of a permanent exhibition at the station.
My photo shows the side of the historic steam train 525448-7 which was built in 1943 and in use for almost five decades. In 1990, it was put out of service and handed over to a group of train enthusiasts that has kept it in superb condition. Read the entire history of the train here (in German.)
I like the reduced color space of my image – just red, black, and a bit of yellow/orange. The bright red works extremely well with the countless shades of black (or gray) in the image.
Lovely.
