Victorian Houses, San Francisco, California, 2003

The story behind the image

San Francisco in California is full of inspiring places. This photo shows a row of historical Victorian houses that are typical for the Nob Hill and Russian Hill quarter.

I know that these houses have been photographed before and after 2003, as there are plenty of images available on the net. However, none of the images I found mention the actual address.

AI is no big help either, pointing to the “Painted Ladies” row of houses in Steiner Street, to some houses in Lyon Street or McAlister Street, but comparing my image with these locations reveals that the houses look remotely similar but are obviously different. Another proof point for the shortcomings of AI service. (Right now, I wouldn’t even believe them answers to very simple questions.)

Even if I don’t know where exactly the houses are, the architecture remains beautiful and amazing.
