The story behind the image
In 1999, we travelled to Florence in Italy – a great year-round destination but even better in summer! When we arrived the weather was just so-so. Thick clouds covered the sky, and temperatures were relatively low. This, however, made exploring the city much easier.
My image shows the Piazza della Repubblica. The Campanile di Giotto, that’s the tower that stands right next to the dome, lurked over the roofs of the buildings, and it was nice to experience the city waking up slowly on a typical Italian morning before the masses of tourists flood the city center.
