The story behind the image
On our trip to the German Baltic Sea we stopped for three nights in Hamburg. That meant three days full of exciting views.
One morning we set out to explore the city center, starting with the Binnenalster and the city center. As the weather got better by the minute, we also set sails to take a ride along the Elbe river, towards west.
My photo shows the view from the pier of the museum harbor Oevelgönne. On the far left you can spot the public beach of Oevelgönne, and on the far right is the Augustinum, a retirement residence.
Unbelievable, but true: Right below the harbor and beach are the tubes of the Elbe highway tunnel. The entrance is just about 2 km north-east of the harbor and beach.
Interesting.
