The story behind the image
In 1999, we travelled for three weeks across Ireland. We spent the first few nights in Dubln and then headed for Bray in County Wicklow, slightly south of Dublin at the east coast, because we wanted to visit the Wicklow Mountains. Sadly, in our case, the weather was wet, very wet. We had a lot of rain, and if it did not rain, there were deep gray clouds that carried more rain.
Originally, we had planned to stay in Courtown at the east coast of the island to enjoy relaxing walks at the nearby cliffs and beaches. When we arrived in the town a heavy and cold wind was blowing, and some drizzle hit into our faces. Staying here did not make a lot of sense to us, so we conitnued our drive to Wexford.
My photo shows a group of four people on the Courtown pier who gazed – just like us – at the rough sea and bad weather.
Thinking of it now, I realize that I need to return to County Wexford as it can be really beautiful if the weather is good. 🙂
