The story behind the image
Today, exactly at noon, the Lord Mayor of Munich, Christian Reiter, will open the original Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, yelling “O’zapft is!” (lit. “it is open”) to the visitors, and the beer will start to flow for 16 days in a row.
In 2023, we visited the Oktoberfest on its opening day, and enjoyed the big parade of the tent owners and officals to the Theresienwiese where the fest takes place. My image shows the staff of the Fischer Vroni tent waving to the crowd from a horse-drawn carriage.
Lovely.
