The story behind the image
In 1999, we travelled for three weeks across Ireland. We spent the first few nights in Dubln and then headed for Bray in County Wicklow, slightly south of Dublin at the east coast, because we wanted to visit the Wicklow Mountains. Sadly, in our case, the weather was wet. Very wet. We had a lot of rain, and if it did not rain, there were deep gray clouds that carried more rain. Still, visiting Jerpoint Abbey, Powerscourt Desmesne, and Glendalough, was worth it.
My photo shows the ruins of Jerpoint Abbey, a historic medieval monastery in Ireland. The foundation dates back to the 12th century; the tower and cloister had been added later. As always, Wikipedia has all the details.
I think I need to return one day when there is at least some sunshine. Alternatively, convert the image to black-and-white. Hmmmm. 🙂
