The story behind the image
During the autumn school holidays we spent a couple of days at the excellent Tiroler Hof in Ehrwald, Austria. A short drive from the hotel is the trailhead for the Waterfalls Adventure Hike (Wasserfall Erlebnisweg in German.)
It is a 3 km circular trail and takes about 1 hour walking time, plus the inevitable pauses to enjoy the nature and shoot phots.
The trail follows the Gaisbach stream to its source and continues as a narrow footpath to the foot of the Seeben Waterfall. The beautiful circular trail has been specially designed for children with several stations for playing, exploring, and relaxing.
My photo shows the dry river bed of the Gaisbach where hikers had collected rocks to create impressive rock piles. Sadly, the Seeben Waterfall was not too impressive when we passed, because there was very little water.
Still, the hike was an exceptional experience well worth the effort.
