The story behind the image
We were in Paris in 1988 and explored the city, mostly by walking, but whenever we used the Metro we were fascinated by the high frequency of trains and seemingly effortless transportation of millions of travellers every day.
Here a lady wearing a red cardigan and red slingback flats waits for the next train at the station Place d’Italie. I found the lady to be a real eye catcher at the platform of the station, so I called the image just ‘Lady In Red’.
Admittedly, the image is quite grainy and not tack-sharp, most likely due to the ‘fast’ negative film used. It was well known that 400 ASA film had much more grain than the common 100 ASA film, but I would not have been able to hold the 4x longer exposure time form hand.
Heck, I still like the result.
