The story behind the image
Here’s another stunning view of the Western Cliffs of Santa Cruz in California.
We had left San Francisco to enter the original Highway Number 1 (instead of its larger and faster twin, the highway 101.) So we had plenty of time as we had planned to stay in Pacific Grove for our first night outside of San Francisco which was not that far away.
Of course, we had to stop in Santa Cruz to admire the beaches and the very relaxed maritime atmosphere. My photo shows the view along the western cliffs from a place also known as Whale Point, located at the corner of Stockton Avenue and West Cliff Drive. Since the cliff protudes into the ocean you can take exciting panorama shots and selfies. It’s also a great place for sunsets (but we were too early.) When you are lucky, you may even spot marine life like whales, dolphins, or sea lions.
Santa Cruz? An awesome place!
