The story behind the image
If you have not noticed by now – we love maritime settings. I grew up at the seaside with its fresh and tasty air, its (sometimes) strong wind, the neverending calls of the seagulls, and the constant activity on the water and at the harbour.
When we travelled to Ireland in 1999, we also took a sidetrip to Howth, about 30 minutes outside of Dublin. While it is a busy suburb of Dublin it still is a working harbour today that has everything you’d expect from a genuine harbour: fish shops, boats and vessels, pubs and restaurants, and panorama hikes along the seaside. And, of course, lots of photo opportunities.
My photo shows the fleet of fishing vessels lined up at the western quay. The weather could have been (much) better, but I like the photo anyway.
