The story behind the image
We stayed for a couple of nights in Sorrento near Napoli in Italy. One morning we got up early and started to descend from the camp ground (the awesome Camping International Nube d’Argento) to the tiny harbour of Marina Grande before heading towards the town center of Sorrento.
While Marina Grande belongs to Sorrento it has been able to preserve its historic character. Even today, it still has a harbour, mostly for tiny boats of the locals and not the yachts of the super-rich, and even a small beach. Back in 2000, the restaurants were not as glitzy as in the town center of Sorrento, and you could get extremely tasty Italian food cooked and prepared with love. We loved it!
I took this photo on our way to Sorrento. The light of the morning sun was illuminating the Bagni Sant’Anna perfectly and created nice long shadows. Countless boats added to the maritime atmosphere.
We loved the time in Sorrento and still remember it fondly. The only thing that was missing here was – a genuine beach, just like the big beaches along the Italian west coast. But I guess you have to accept comprises. 🙂
