The story behind the image
In 2004 we went on a sailing trip with my father-in-law. Back then, he owned a yacht and enjoyed his retirement by crusing the Baltic Sea from early May to mid-September. We joined him for a week in summer and came on board in Laboe near Kiel, Germany.
Before we set sail for Sønderburg in Denmark he had to make some errants in the city center of Kiel and sailed right to the end of the fjord. How convenient! No issues finding a parking lot. No long distances to the seamen store. Plus, we passed the majestic cruiseship AIDAblu which was tied to the Schwedenkai. An awesome sight!
Over the past two decades, Kiel has changed a lot in this area. Today, it would be impossible to capture the view on the left side of the image. The parking deck in front of the train station has been replaced by a new buildings that blocks the direct line of sight towards the train station (in the center) and the Hotel Berliner Hof (center right).

By the way, the cruise ship carried its name AIDAblu just from 2004 to 2007. After a long winded history of brand and ownership changes, the cruise ship was scrapped in 2020 in India. Wikipedia has all the details (in German.)
