The story behind the image
Yesterday I shared the story how we got to Atri in Italy, a typical Italian town on the countryside near the Adriatic Sea. Back in 2000, it was pretty much a blank spot on the tourist map (and probably still is today.) But it turned out to be a perfect place for us to stay. As the town sits high above the surrounding landscape, temperatures were mild. What’s more, we enjoyed the typical Italian lifestyle without the touristic buzz from the coastal stretch.
This is the view from the Belvedere viewpoint in Atri. The term Belvedere has its origins in the word ‘bella’ (beautiful) and ‘videre’ (looking) – and indeed, this view from Atri was magnificent.
