The story behind the image
When in Cape Town in South Africa, do not miss out a side trip to one of the large wine yards in the area. A friend of the family recommended a wine tasting at the Blaauwklippen Wines Estate in Stellenbosch (and provided a teaser glass of wine for a dinner.) We were hooked and visited Stellenbosch’s oldest wine farm – it dates back to 1682 – on a beautiful summer day.
Admittedly, it was a bit strange to taste the wonderful wines without being able to drink them, but we still had to drive and also wanted to have our full senses for all of the wines. We totally enjoyed the tasting, and the staff member explained the different wines very well.
My image shows De Blaauwe Kitchen – the Blaauwklippen restaurant – which, at the time of writing, is open daily from 8am to 6pm.
