The story behind the image

The Italian Adriatic Coast is home to countless beautiful towns. When we drove from Vieste via Peschici towards north, we used the Strada Statale 89 Garganica. It is a great highway not only because it is the most convenient way to get from Peschici to Rodi Garganico, but it has been built next to the sea for almost 6 kilometers. Beautiful views guaranteed!

Rodi Garganico is a town that has grown organically and it is well worth a stop. It has a busy yacht harbour, large beaches, and a historic town center with narrow streets, bars and restaurants. At the Piazza Rovelli, I shot the image towards Via Cairoli (which can be seen on the left.)

Changes since 2000? Not so many. However, my image shows just a single palm tree in front of the building, and Google Streetview images dated September 2009 show also this single tree. In 2017, however, there are suddenly two palm trees! These appear to be smaller than the single one in 2009, so I guess the single tree must have been cut between 2009 and 2017 and replaced by two new palm trees.
