The story behind the image
The Louvre Museum in Paris, France, is a feast for anyone interested in art and history. It is for sure overwhelming, and it is impossible to see and examine all works on a single day. But the presentation of the pieces is in many cases perfect.
My photo shows The Galerie d’Apollon (Room 705, Denon wing, Level 1). Visitors admire the royal collection of hardstone vessels (under glass) or just flow along the long room which presents more jewelry (including The French Crown Jewels, also under glass), countless paintings, and plenty of gold. The museum has an extraordinary page dedicated to this room.
My advice: When in Paris, plan for a visit at the museum (and buy your tickets in advance!) But do not try to see everything during your first visit. Pick your personal must-see pieces and make a plan. Then everything else comes as a bonus. 🙂
