The story behind the image
Last year we had been to Paris for almost a week. On a beautiful evening we could be seen waiting for our friends in front of Gare Montparnasse. Our goal for this evening: Go up to the observation deck of Tour Montparnasse to experience the views across the city. (It’s an awesome experience – do not miss this one when in Paris!)
I could not resist to take a photo of the high rise we would be entering soon. It may not be the most beautiful building in the world, and it has aged a bit since it was built in the early 1970s, but it certainly is impressive. Even more so if you are, like me, sick of heights and know you are going to visit the 56th floor! In the end, I felt extremely well and safe up there. 🙂
In my photo I like the beautiful warm light of the late afternoon sun that is enhanced by the brown exterior walls and windows of the tower. The reduced color set and the strict symmetry are great, too.
Wikipedia has a lot more information on Tour Montparnasse.
