The story behind the image
During our 2004 trip to South Africa we had not pre-booked any accommodation (except for the first few nights in Cape Town.) When we approached Robertson, we inquired with the beautiful Nuy Valley Guest House, a family owned wine farm with a boutique wine cellar, situated in one of the beautiful valleys of the Cape Winelands between Worcester and Robertson.
The receptionist told us that they had rooms available but that a wedding party would be going on this night (and it might get loud.) We thanked her for her openness and decided to drive a bit further to Robertson.
Robertson is the busy center of the region, surrounded by farmland. It is known for their vineyards and race horses.
By the way, we stayed at the Grand Hotel, a charming victorian hotel built in 1901.
