The story behind the image
August 2010 on the island of Sardinia. We had visited the stunning Nuraghe Arrubiu, an “ancient castle” built by ancient people of Sardinia. A wonderfully relaxing experience. Despite the high season there were very few other tourists, so we could take our time to explore the ruins.
We left the site at around 6 pm, and on the road next to the Nuraghe, we saw this truck gently guiding his herd of sheep along the narrow road. The late afternoon sun dipped the landscape into warm colors and created long shadows. A beautiful image. We stopped our car next to the road and I took this beautiful photo of what I would call “a modern shepard.”
The truck, by the way, is a Fiat Strada, a car that was designed by famous Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro.
Very, very nice.
