The story behind the image
From Ballater we followed the River Muick down south to get to Loch Muick. The narrow and gently winded road provides plenty of photo opportunities. Among them – wildlife! (Who would have expected that?)
This group of deer stood at the top of a hill and watched their surroundings. The 300 mm lens allowed for this very nice shot. I think they must be royal deer because Glenmuick is part of the Balmoral estate, which is owned personally by King Charles III. The estate was formally incorporated into Balmoral by George VI. It’s described as a jewel in the Royal Deeside Crown.
Glenmuick? Well worth a visit!
