The story behind the image
We were in the second week of our trip to Namibia and were used to the highways which are very different from Europe (or the U.S.) About 60% of our trip we drove on gravel highways. The highways were generally in good conditions (no potholes, no sudden dips) but they were made from gravel which required more attention and better nerves than driving at home.
The dust was our least problem, though. At the airport in Windhoek we had picked up a perfectly clean car, a Volkswagen Polo Classic sedan. Now we had visited the Vogelfederberg near Walvisbay and had admired the seemingly endless landscape and total silence of the place.
Before we entered the car again to attack the next leg of our trip, I could not resist to take a photo of the dust covered back of our car.
Exciting memories, yes, but I also remember how much I sweated (and sweared!) later that day about the deep gravel lanes of the highway.
