The story behind the image
This is one the first images I shot with the brand new Canon AE-1 Program camera my mother had purchased in 1982 or 1983. Originally, she had bought it for herself but very soon I was the one who regularly used the camera. 🙂
This must be from one of the first rolls of film and I lost the negatives. Just a print has remained, but at the time of writing its colors are looking surpringly good.
I shot it during a bicycle tour from my hometown Kiel in Germany to the harbour of Travemünde. The passenger ferry ‘Baltic Clipper’ rushes along the narrow passage in Travemünde close to the Baltic Sea.
The area has changed a lot since then, so it was difficult to find the exact location where the image was taken. I like it anyway.
