The story behind the image
Strasbourg in France is a busy city in the region of Alsace that could preserve its historic charm. This view along Grand Rue shows the variety of shops, stores, and restaurant that even in 2025 still dominate the street.
Certainly, many shops have changed over time. For example, the traditional restaurant Le Woodies (on the left) changed to Bistro Margot which again changed to East Canteen (an Asian restaurant.) The denim store (on the right) became a store of Linvosges, a premium home decoration chain.
But there were other changes as well. The beautiful street lamps on poles have been replaced by wall mounted street lamps. The sign with the street name of the Petite Rue des Dentelles (on the right) has been renewed and now also show its German name Kleinspitzegass.
Nice.
