The story behind the image
Tuscany has many stunning places beyond the tourist magnets Florence, Siena, and Pisa. One of these is Saturnia, situated about 1 hour east of Grosseto (by car.) It marks almost the most southern point of the region Tuscany, a few kilometers down south the region Latium begins. So, Florence is quite far away.
However, the landscape surrounding Saturnia – as shown on my image – is as beautiful as in central Tuscany. Saturnia has become a (tiny) magnet for tourists thanks to its hot springs which have been providing warm water (37.5 °C) all year round for 3,000 years by now. They are said to be healthy and the public bath at the Cascate del Mulino can be accessed 24/7 free of charge.
