The story behind the photo
A holiday trip to the island of Kos, Greece, resulted in several beautiful shots of the Kos town center and the island, including this art shot.
We definitely had a good time on Kos. Here we were at the hotel pool and this straw roof was what I saw when I looked straight up. I just love the subtle blue sky shining through the straw. I love the straw that looks uniform at first but gets very individual when you take a closer look. They are all different!
Well, I call it an “art shot” because it does not have a distinctive topic. It could be used as a background, as a postcard, or even as a poster.
Shot with a Canon AE-1 Program on negative film which got lost over the years. Fortunately I had this very good and undamaged print sitting in the archive which I scanned and edited in 2025.
