The story behind the image
We had arrived in Lee Vining in the afternoon and had already checked in to our hotel. After a bit of rest we headed to Mono Lake before the sun would cast too long shadows. And what can I say? Mono Lake is a stunning beauty, a raw diamond. I only knew the place from the inner sleeve of the 1975 Pink Floyd classic album Wish You Were Here.
The next morning I shot this farewell image from the visitor center prior to heading for Yosemite National Park.
Unmissable.
