The story behind the image
We were up early to drive 45 minutes from Jasper up to Maligne Lake, one of the many must-sees in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The sky was clear, and there were still relatively few tourists. We were stunned by the breathtaking beauty of the lake with Mount Charlton and the Queen Elizabeth Ranges as backdrop.
On our way back we stopped at Maligne Canyon which offers nice hikes next to and – via a series of six bridges – across the canyon. Passing all six bridges is a 3.5 km hike that takes about 45 to 60 minutes (one way.)
My photo, captured from the first bridge, shows hikers on the second bridge as they admire the view from up there.
