The story behind the image
The people of Sardinia are proud of their heritage. Their regional flag is omnipresent across the island and deeply embedded in their culture.
During our trip to Sardinia in 2010 we had several opportunities to capture flags of Sardinia, but most of the images were lacking the powerful look I aimed for. Not so at the harbour of Cagliari where a strong wind was blowing and the flag was perfectly horizontal.
You can read all about the flag and its history at Wikipedia.
