The story behind the image
Access to the Lago Maggiore is shared by two countries: Italy in the South and Switzerland in the North. In 2008, we stayed for a week on the Swiss side in Brissago, which is just a short drive away from the Italian border. The area is called Ticino and combines the best of two worlds: You get the Swiss accuracy and Italian lifestyle.
I took this photo of the passenger ferry Italia from high above the town where the streets are steep and curvy – enabling you to take a birds perspective. So, it’s not really an aerial view as I was standing with both feet on Swiss soil. 🙂 Anyway, the morning sun was coming right upfront, and the set set out to sail the lake. I waited until the ship was entering the zone where the brightest reflections of the sunlight began and put the trace of the ship into the bottom left corner.
Awesome.
