The story behind the image
The island of Ireland is a feast for photographers and those seeking places far away from the buzzing cities. On our way from Tralee to Limerick we used the long winded coast road (N69) which follows the shoreline of River Shannon.
Near Cloonnagalleen we visited the Celtic Park & Gardens to get an impression of the pre-historic past. The most impressive exhibit (to me) was the stone circle which was made from 16 large stones. We could almost feel how the circle has survived 2,500+ years, untouched. As we were the only visitors, it was quite touching.
Shortly after we discovered the ‘Inauguration Chair’ I simply had to put on a serious look and act as a pre-historic ruler (please ignore the denim clothes.) Petra posed for me next to a dolmen. Back then, all five pillars were intact. It seems, that today one of the five has tumbled over.
Anyway, it is a great spot to visit when you are in the area. (Read more about it at Discover Ireland.)
