The story behind the image
We had arrived in Lee Vining in the afternoon and had already checked in to our hotel. After a bit of rest we headed to Mono Lake before the sun would cast too long shadows. And what can I say? Mono Lake is a stunning beauty, a raw diamond. I only knew the place from the inner sleeve of the 1975 Pink Floyd classic album Wish You Were Here.
So, I was really excited. And I did not get disappointed. We were almost alone at the place. Below our location, a truck was slowly driving along, and in the distance highway 395 waited for cars. A peaceful and quiet place.
After a while we drove down to the shore of Mono Lake to take a few additional photos.
Unmissable.
P.S.: I composed this image from two slides which provides a nice panoramic view to avoid the distortions of a wide angle shot. Also, the final size of 46 megapixels is quite nice.
