Church Tower, Walchsee, Austria

The story behind the image

On our trip to Italy in 2024 we stopped enroute in Kufstein in Austria and also explored its surroundings. We found the village of Walchsee to be extremely attractive. It features a medium sized lake that is large enough to cater several nice beaches. The village also has a good touristical infrastructure.

As we walked through Walchsee I realized that the tower of the historical church was illuminated nicely by the afternoon sun. I really liked the idea to capture just the needle like tower with the woods of the surrounding hills in the back.

While I am not totally convinced that it works the way I wanted – or whether the image is too simplistic in the end – I still like the result.

Just a short and entirely unrelated note – this post marks my 2,500th post on zanzig.com! Who would have thought that when I started my little blog in September 2021?
