The story behind the image
Here’s a fun shot from 2024 showing Zeppelin D-LZFN with its huge Goodyear painting over Munich, Germany.
We were at a sports event at the Dante Stadium in Munich when suddenly this Zeppelin appeared, probably on an excursion from the Air Wharf in Oberschleißheim. I had just my smartphone, sadly, but the image is good enough to share.
D-LZFN is the first Zeppelin NT. NT stands for “New Technology” and marks a complete re-design of the original blimps that were successful in the 1920s and 1930s. This blimp was the first prototype and started operations in 2000. Several commercial models followed, but the huge success originally predicted by the company did not materialize. As always, Wikipedia has a detailed story (in German.)
