The story behind the image
This image from the family archive shows the Lange Straße in Oldenburg i. Oldenburg, Germany. Here, the Achternstraße begins (on the left) and the Lange Straße continues (on the right).
The building in the center is the Lefferseck, named after the Leffers fashion store which was founded in October 1928 and became the largest fashion retailer in the city. At the time of writing, it still resides in Lange Straße 80.
I especially like the two old cars with their British Allies numberplates and the old neon ad for Leffers. Note the neon arrow above the logo that points to the store opposite of the street. On the same building there is another large neon sign promoting the consumption of milk as the source of health (“Milch – Quelle der Gesundheit” in German.) – These neon ads must have been quite a sight in the evenings.
From a technical point of view, the relative did a trememdous job. The small print is super sharp and well exposed which makes it joy to look at.
